Racing pocket bikes, also known as Mini GP racing or Minimoto racing, is a type of racing using miniature versions of full size motorcycles, called pocket bikes. Pocket bikes racing takes place on dirt tracks. It is a very popular form of racing in Europe and Japan, and is increasing in popularity all over the world, in particular in North America.

The usual pocket bike is about a quarter the size of a regular motorbike, and has an internal combustion engine of between 40-50 cubic centimetres producing between three and fifteen horse power, which varies with the exact model. There is no suspension on a pocket bike but they rely instead on bumps being absorbed by the tires. Most weigh in the region of thirty five pounds. Models for newcomers will usually output about 3 to 4 horsepower, but the more expensive racing models run with much more power. The best pocket bikes for racing have a very favorable weight to power ratio. Performance enhancements are sometimes added to increase speed and acceleration. In spite of their small size, both children and adults can reach speeds of at least 55 mph in organized racing leagues.

Because they are small pocket bikes are easy to transport, and the cost of the bikes is low which adds to their appeal to both adults and children. The least expensive pocket bikes from China sell for as low as $200 for a basic model, while you could pay as much as as $4000 for a top pocket bike from Italy. Children from around six can be taught the motorcycle racing while adults are able to feel all the thrills of bike racing without the huge costs and danger involved in regular full size motorcycle racing.

Officers are getting tough after a series of incidents where riders have performed ‘doughnuts’ – 360-degree skids using the back wheels – in main roads.

Police are also cracking down on motorised scooters, go-peds, and scrambler bikes.

Last week Police Constable Phil Hambley and PCSO Michelle Davies stopped a 16-year-old boy in Sandringham Road.

The boy, who was carrying a passenger wearing no helmet, was issued with a warning.

Officers can seize the scooter if he is caught riding dangerously again.

They have pledged to take similar action against others as they step up patrols around hot spot areas.

PC Hambley said: “Anti-social use of mini motos and scooters has been impacting heavily on the quality of life for many residents in Darwen.

“Not only do they cause a nuisance to members of the community, but they can also be extremely dangerous to other road users and pedestrians and we will continue to run similar operations in the future.”

It is against the law to use a mini moto in public parks, open spaces, or on footpaths, pavements, cycle routes and bridleways.

It is an offence to use a mini moto on a footpath to pass from one piece of private land to another.

People under 16 are only legally allowed to ride a mini moto on private land, but permission of the land owner must be given.

Anyone over the age of 16 may use the mini moto on the roads only if the vehicle is registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, taxed and insured, has correct number plates, indicators, working lights, and the rider has a full driving licence and is wearing approved protective clothing.

Everyone knows that motorcycles, while being a fun and efficient vehicle, can also be somewhat dangerous. Unfortunately, many people will get into accidents involving motorcycles because they do not take themselves seriously enough while riding them, feeling that a motorcycle is simply a vehicle for fun. Anyone who feels this way should consider investing in electric pocket bikes instead of a motorcycle, because it gives them the chance to still have the fun of a motorcycle without the larger risk.

When a person buys a pocket bike, they are getting a smaller version of a typical motorcycle. They will still be able to find a number of classy styles of pocket bikes, not sacrificing any class in the tradeoff. These smaller bikes will typically get up to 15 miles an hour, which is much slower than a real bike but still enough to enjoy oneself.

Adults can enjoy pocket bikes just as well as children can. Many of these bikes can accommodate riders up to 170 pounds. While the shape of the bike may not be convenient for anyone who is over 6 feet tall, one will still be able to maneuver the bike rather easily. This allows one bike to have a lot of use.

A person who invests in a pocket bike will have something fun to enjoy that will not require gasoline. A pocket bike runs on electric power that has been stored in 12 volt batteries which are fully rechargeable. The rider should get at least 30 minutes of continuous use out of one of these bikes.

As the unit runs on electric energy, the typical noise output that comes from gasoline engines will disappear. One can ride one of their electric pocket bikes around without having to worry about distracting the neighbors. It is a superb choice for those looking to have fun in a clean, cheap, and safe way.
